Library Merges Catalog with CSU Fort Collins
Over the summer 2010, library faculty and staff at both Pueblo and Fort Collins have been busy planning and implementing the merging of our catalogs. Now, when visitors to the library’s website click on Library Catalog, they will be searching a new catalog interface, which provides a different look and feel as well as increased functionality. As in the past, library patrons will be able to search for books, journals, DVDs, government documents and more using the catalog.
Initially, searches entered at CSU-Pueblo campus will default to CSU-Pueblo
resources. However, patrons will be able to use a simple dropdown menu to expand the search to include both CSU-Pueblo and CSU–Fort Collins resources in one search.
The regular checkout period for books from either Library’s collection will be 4 weeks. CSU-Pueblo faculty, staff and graduate students will also be extended CSU Fort Collins faculty borrowing privileges which includes a 6 month borrowing period for books.
Patrons will still use the new catalog to locate and request items in the Library’s stored collection. Library staff will continue to pull items several times per day for pickup in the OUC Un-derground Library Circulation Desk.
One change is that patrons will be required to create a pin of their choosing to control their requests and renewals.
Library Renovation Update-Installment One
All fixtures and materials have now been moved out of the core library building. The following pictures were taken during the moving process.
Building shelves in the wing.
Half of the fourth floor collection moved.
The movers almost finished clearing the third floor on this day.
The nearly empty second floor.
Collections formerly housed on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the library are now in storage in the library wing. Please see the library home page for a tutorial on how to request materials from storage. Click on the icon to start the tutorial.

Catalog Search Changes
In an effort to make searching the catalog more straight-forward and efficient, changes have been made to the search indexes and the types of searches offered. Now there is a Browse Search that retrieves alphabetized lists of library materials based on author, title, journal title, and subject heading. (Please use the CSU-Pueblo Journals AtoZ link for a complete list of all journals the library has available.) The Advanced Search now offers more streamlined limiting of search results. Links to the library’s databases and Journals AtoZ now appear under the Search tab itself.
Please let us know if you have any concerns, feedback, or suggestions regarding any of these changes in off campus database access or catalog searching. Contact Sandy Hudock, Access Services Librarian at 549-2527.
