CSU-Pueblo University Archives and Special Collection Receives Grant

The University Archives and Special Collections has received a grant for $4830 from the National Film Preservation Foundation to make preservation and viewing copies of the film ‘Penitentes’. The Penitentes or the Cofradia de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, was an Hispanic lay brotherhood which practiced ritual physical mortification as part of its Holy Week penitential rituals. The film is part of a larger collection of artifacts, photographs, documents and books relating to the Penitentes recently donated by Ruben Archuleta. Some of the artifacts from the collection are on display in the University Archives and researchers may use the collection in the Archives’ reading room.
